1. Wide-angle

Two cruises still haven’t docked in the cruise terminal since the immigration operations had been suspended.

2. Zoom

The windowsill was jam-packed with toilet paper rolls.

3. Focus

Clothes were hung outside, allowing sunlight to kill the bacteria on the surface.

4. Crop

Surgical masks and hand sanitizer have become the must-have necessity among every household.

5. Bird’s eye / aerial

HKTV Mall truck was delivering products to household.

6. Worm’s eye

Outside the kitchen, the exhaust fan is pervaded with dust particles and greasy substances as we cook more frequent.

7. First person view

We tend not to discard the mask after our first usage, but save it in the envelope and reuse it another time.

Coronavirus went viral at a sudden, people were not prepared for the looming crisis. Dire shortage of medical equipments like surgical masks occurred. Suffering from inadequate masks, we resort to put our used masks inside the envelope and reuse it next time even though we understand masks will lose its function of preventing the influx of bacteria and virus. This practice is very common nowadays. From that, we could see that Hong Kong people were deeply affected by the shortage of masks.

8. Skewed angle

Looking from the kitchen, there are full of pipelines, contamination of fresh water by drainage pipe have become a concern.

9. Perspective

There are literally no ship crossing the Victoria Harbor

10. View frame

Windows are opened widely to allow proper ventilation in the room

11. Chiaroscuro / Contrast

Football field was filed with people whereas swimming pool was closed and empty of water.

12. Seriality (at least 2 or multiple photographs in a series)

More and more people started to get out of indoor area which often traps bacteria and play sports outside.

Many of the photographs reveal your attempt to contemplate the question beyond simply responding to the technical requirements of the task. Some of the shots seem to be in dialogue with another in the collection.
A voyeuristic view of your neighbor’s(?) response to the current situation in the Zoom shot. Consider the technical differentiation between the Zoom and Focus views. For the Focus view, try to sharpen the subject that you wish to highlight and un-focus the rest.
The contrast in the Bird’s eye and Worm’s eye view offers a poignant insight on the experience of seeing the city beyond from your home space.
Very dynamic Skewed angle shot from your room window.
Beautiful visual dialogue between the Perspective and View frame shots of a rather empty Victoria Harbour.
The Chiaroscuro shot is somewhat a miss as there is literally no shadow, therefore dark-light contrast in this shot. Even the colors and tones are a rather desaturated.
Seriality – Beautiful series of photos on the sports field.
Recommendation: Consider the 2 layers of communication – 1. Between the subject matter and the selected technique and 2. The entire set of photographs as a collection i.e. the relationships between each photograph and the sequence in which they are arranged.
