Wide Angle: The wide angle shot reveals a common footbridge that is emptier than usual during the virus outbreak.

Zoom: The camera is zoomed in on a cleaning lady in a mask, who is among the minority of people still working during the pandemic.

Focus: The focus is on the handle of the footbridge in the foreground, while in the background is the blurry figure of a delivery man.

Crop: The photo crops out most of the footbridge, and leaves in its center the figure of a masked delivery man getting on his motorcycle. The technique singles out the delivery worker as the only subject, and leads all of the viewer’s attention to it. I have come to realize that many people in the service industry, particularly delivery workers, have not stopped working during the coronavirus outbreak. While we choose to stay at home and stay safe, a lot of them are still working outside. This technique is, I think, an appropriate one to highlight the work they do for others during this pandemic.

Bird’s eye view: The photo of the road is taken from the footbridge, taking a bird’s eye view of the somewhat empty lanes.

Worm’s eye view: This is a worm’s eye view of a delivery man on his motorcycle, who is still busily working during the pandemic.

First person view: This is a first person view of myself while a delivery man and his motorcycle passed by.

View frame: Bars of the footbridge become frames through which an old man in a mask and his bicycle are viewed.

Perspective: Here are delivery workers captured in a downward-looking perspective.

Skewed angle: The photo captures three people on their way, all wearing masks and taking precautions.

Contrast: There is strong contrast in brightness between sun-lit areas and shadowed ones on the empty footbridge.

Seriality: The series of photos capture the moments when a delivery worker gets on his motorcycle and starts riding, and narrate a moment in the life of a delivery man during the virus outbreak.

You demonstrate a good understanding of and personal engagement with the course content with regard to the task. You offer some insightful reflections on the still running city amid the coronavirus outbreak with the footbridge as a site of transit. However, some of the photography techniques can be improved. For example, the Bird-eye view and Worm-eye view. The former refers to the view from above, like a google earth view (Literally a bird’s view when in flight in the sky). The latter refers to a view directly from below – literally what a worm sees when it looks up. Your technical execution of zoom and crop can be better defined as currently they seem interchangeable. For crop, why not crop only the action of the scooter rider to showcase your idea of continual service of the city. (Your worm eye view photos work better as crop photos.) Further, for skew angle, the current photo is a tilted image. If skewed, the perspective lines will be very dramatic. But the seriality set of photos is well done expressing your concept clearly with sufficient numbers of photos.
