Field Trip 2: Tram

Tilt Shift and Time Lapse

While on the tram, the scene I could catch out was the miniature-like view of Hong Kong. Compare to the size that I actually observe, size on the screen was way more smaller than it was. So I tried to demonstrate the tilt shift method by using some time lapse in horizontal, vertical, and diagonal angles.

“Children of the Millennial”

Co-existence of old and new generation of Hong Kong was the subject matter that I tried to merge in two different video clips. This distinct contrast paradoxically explains continuous legacy from the past to the current generation, since all these kids are living in the city that the past people have accomplished. These two groups seem different, but share significantly large part of their life: Hong Kong. By wiping out the colors of each video and purposefully utilizing dynamics and camera, I tried to put focus more on the figures rather than background. The overlooking angle of camera was to imply contemplative and objective attitude towards the figures.

Distant View

Cropped scene from video of object with a good distance.

Transitions / Time Lapse

Fast forwarded scene of horizontal view of Hong Kong. Various transitions were made inside spontaneously.

Good try to different techniques such as tilt shift. Yet to step further, it is good to think the reasons of using such techniques.
To show the coexistence of subjects, maybe a dual or multi-screen can be used. The time lapse is nice and can be further elaborate as an analytical tool on the elevation of buildings along the tramway.
