Recreating a room is definitely easier than mocking up an outdoor/urban space, but could also be a bit tricky. Think about what kind of scenes do you want to recreate and whether you only need to create one mock of the room or a couple of copies of the room for different purposes.

Director – Focusing on how the whole story is intended to unravel would be a great start before deciding what kind of room mock up is needed for the production.

Scriptwriter – A thoughtful consideration of the kind of story are you going to produce/narrate would help the other crews to navigate as well, e.g. are we talking about something like “Sunset Limited” (dir. Tommy Lee Jones, 2011) or “Rear Window” (Alfred Hitchcock, 1954)?

Dir. of Photography – Would be great to also think about what kind of angles & framing techniques would work best for this kind of set! See also my comment above on what kind of space are you going to shoot in (Sunset Boulevard style? Rear Window style? Sleuth style?)

    Producer –

Production Designer – Try to considert what kind of furnishings would be suitable for the set and would you need to create several sets instead of just one in order to deliver the story more effectively.

Visual Effect Dir. – Green screen & post-production could be costly; discussing together with the Director Production Designer to determine how much of the post-production efforts to make could direct the film to different direction as well.

Lighting supervisor – Is there any lighting specifics that would differentiate a space in Sham Shui Po and anywhere else? How to recreate those kind of effects?
