[Workshop 2] Q&A with Miggy Cheng – Q10

From Marco, Poon Kwan Yiu 3035797432 : As you and the actor, actress and director will all contribute in the discussion of the usage of costumes, if there are different opinions and can’t come to the conclusion, who will have the final decision? Because seems that everyone can have quite different ideas and interpretation on the tone of the movie, as u have mentioned design of the costume consider the tone of the film

This kind of situation happens all the time. I can’t say who will have the final decision as the situation varies, but no matter what the differences are, to reach a mutual understanding of a certain character is not completely impossible as we all serve and respect the script / director’s vision and actor’s input. If all parties involved committed to these criteria, the possibility of an irresolvable contradiction is relatively rare. If it do happen, in my part; I’ll explain my concept and how I reached to that decision, raise my concern to avoid jeopardising the overall design approach. I am able to convince others most of the time, but even if I don’t, I’ll also professionally accept my defeat, but not without a good fight! 🙂
