The first half of this video consists of several bustling places or things in Hong Kong, including the crowds at Kennedy Town, the Ferris wheel in Central, a singer’s concert, LAN Kwai Fong DJ performance, the night scene on the Avenue of Stars, Disney, etc., all of which illustrate the prosperous and colorful of Hong Kong. The second half of the video, on the other hand, is shot around the Stone slabs Street (also known as Pottinger Street) in Central, Hong Kong. It is a street with a history of at least 150 years, and the name Pottinger Street is actually named after Sir Henry Pottinger, the first Governor of Hong Kong under British colonial rule. The street is made up of worn stone pavements, blackened cast iron railings, old tin houses, stalls with ghost masks, embroidered costumes, old books, and other groceries. …… Stepping on the old stone streets, the atmosphere of old Hong Kong comes over you, as if time stands still. It is a stark contrast to the modern Central not far away. It is the epitome of the city behind the prosperity. The preservation of old streets and lanes not only gives a sense of familiarity and belonging to the elderly, but also allows young people to see what old Hong Kong was like and to touch the real history. I hope that through the contrast between Hong Kong’s bustling life and its urban culture, you will become interested in the diverse city of Hong Kong and try to learn more about the real Hong Kong.
Shooting technique
- Push shot
Use the camera to move forward or zoom to complete, gradually approaching the subject-object to be shown, so that people feel step by step closer to observe things, you can show the same object from far to near change. The use of this lens is mainly to highlight the object to be photographed, so as to see the details of the change more clearly.
- Shift lens
The camera is fixed on a moving object to move in all directions to shoot the immobile object. It displays some objects coherently, forming dynamic effects and constituting film and television animation, so that the immobile objects produce the effect of movement, the formation of a tour, or show the visual experience.
- Pan-shot
When shooting, the camera does not move, only shaking the lens for left and right, up and down, moving or rotating, so that people feel from one direction to another to gradually watch things, mainly used to show the gradual presentation of things and to complete the development of the whole scenery.
- Pulling the lens
Mainly use the camera to move back or zoom to complete, gradually away from the main object to be shown, so that people feel that they are step by step away from the things to be observed, the overall effect of watching something from a distance, it can show the same object from near to far change, mainly to highlight the object to be photographed and the overall effect.
- Shake the lens
Quickly shake the lens, and very quickly move to another scene, so as to switch the picture to another content, and the process in between to produce a blurred effect, this kind of shooting can show a sudden transition of content.
Of course there are also basic shots such as landscape shots, overhead shots, and tilt shots.
Video editing technique
- Add subtitles: people can clearly see which places are the sceneryso that people can easilygo to these attractions.
- Video “stacking”: itis a trick for video switching, specifically embodied in the upper shot before disappearing, the lower shot has gradually revealed, and the two images have a number of seconds of overlapping parts so that the transition is smoother.
- Adjusting the color of the picture: mainly in the bright colors of the busy sceneand the old film colors of the old streets of Hong Kong.
- sound: removesome noisy ambient sound, adding a piece of soothing music to enrich the video, highlighting the old Hong Kong flavor. (The original sound of two scenes were retained, namely the night music of the Avenue of Stars and the sound heard at the end of the video standing on a stone street because I want to highlight the difference between these two scenes showing the prosperity of Hong Kong and the old culture of this city).
- some filter effects and 3D animation effects to increase the impact of the video.
