Research and Reflection:
To conduct the research of this topic, a visit to Metroplaza is needed to observe and document the mall’s unique features.
The definition of mall is a large building contain many shops and restaurant which allow the public to shop there. However, many malls implement different policies to attract the public. I went to Metroplaza to do the research. It has over 230 shops in total for seven floors. It must be a mall with this point. I know the reason why it need to build a rest place. It allows people to have more energy to shop after rest. The mall MOKO in Mong Kok has a larger playground too. It is one of its selling points. But why we need a farm and a playground in a mall.
You can see that the farm is not covered in the video. It is open area which like a natural environment. This has several advantages. The farm allows for easy access to natural light and fresh air, which are essential for plant growth. In addition, the farm can provide a unique and attractive addition to the urban landscape. It can serve as a green space for the community, providing a space for people to connect with nature and learn about sustainable agriculture. Moreover, farms can help to mitigate the urban heat island effect, which occurs when cities absorb and retain heat due to the large amount of concrete and asphalt surfaces. The vegetation on the farm can help to reduce the temperature of the building and the surrounding area.
The location of the playground provides easy access to natural light and fresh air, which are good for children’s health. This can help to create a more enjoyable and healthy play experience for children. The height of slide can be higher to increase the interest of children. In addition, the topic of the playground is well-designed. Because it is talking about vegetables, which has a echo with the farm.
Building them on the top of the mall can make use of space. Hong Kong is a densely urban area so with limited landscape. By utilizing the spaces of a mall, which can give benefit to the public. Providing places to rest which can satisfy the public’s hope to provide them a better experience when shopping in the mall.
Metroplaza offers a wide range of shops that cater to a diverse range of needs and preferences. The types included Fashion, electronics, bookstores. The mall’s variety of stores, coupled with its unique features, which are the small farm and children’s playground, make it a popular destination for shopping and entertainment in the Kwai Fong area.
The above could provide a new perspective on the role of malls in urban environments to you. It demonstrates how malls can provide more than just retail opportunities but also serve as community spaces that promote sustainable living and healthy lifestyles. By showcasing these unique features of Metroplaza Mall, I hope to broadens your understanding of what malls can provide to the community and encourages us to consider more innovative approaches to urban development.

I appreciated your attempt in investigating the mall. However, your video is unclear in its definition of hybridity- what are the juxtaposing elements in the mall that you are investigating? More in-depth exploration into the way users interact in the spaces and some defined parameters of your topic will produce a more insightful video. Instead of merely presenting a walk-through, you should frame your video under the theme of hybridity which is not mentioned or elaborated in your text analysis.
