Title: disappearance of cargo terminals

Hong Kong is one of the three great natural deep-water harbors in the world, so it can be said that it is a port. The traditional port of Hong Kong is Victoria Harbor, which originally refers to the waters between Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong. The British believed Victoria had the potential to develop into an excellent port in East Asia. Later, during the First and Second Opium Wars, Hong Kong was relinquished by the Qing Dynasty, and Hong Kong was constructed with Victoria Port as its central business district to expand its maritime trade in the Far East as a basis. At present, this water area is no longer responsible for cargo shipping, but only provides urban transportation, sightseeing and other functions. West of Kowloon, at Kwai Chung Container Terminals, is where the modern freight terminal is situated. With a total of 7 container berths, it operates Terminals 1, 2, and 9. There are currently a number of well-known piers in Victoria Harbor, including the Star Ferry Piers in Central, Tsim Sha Tsui, and Wan Chai. From 1965 to the present, the Star Ferry offers you the service of visiting Victoria Harbor in addition to providing you with the convenience of transportation.

The Star Ferry remains necessary in modern Hong Kong. To recall the past and preserve its features, it also has to travel across the sea in this traditional manner. What is clear is that the Star Ferry, which has traveled through and seen a century of Hong Kong history, will continue to inspire people to ride the waves and sail to the shore of Hope. What will this paper introduce that makes a global cargo hub disappear and become a terminal now used mainly for entertainment? Hong Kong’s docks and the containers of goods that come and depart are essential to its growth. In my perspective, Victoria Harbor’s functional change is not too awful considering that it is the most prosperous area of Hong Kong.

I’ll concentrate on how the role of the wharf ships has changed in order to demonstrate how the wharf’s purpose has changed. I’ll also look for some early pier films and papers to highlight more clearly. Because it once served as a major global hub for trade and supported the post-World War II economy and people’s livelihoods, Victoria Harbour is thriving in large part. After researching the history, I discovered that among all the wharfs in Hong Kong, Victoria Harbor was the location with the most changes and the finest representation of those changes, therefore I will provide a unique explanation for this location.

To give viewers a sense of immersion at the beginning of the video, I shot it from a low angle from the sea because Victoria Harbour was reclaimed from the sea to become what it is today. I also incorporated the sound of the waves. The video of me describing it while seated on a tiny ship will be more compelling for you to believe me because of how broad the sea is. I rapidly moved the camera so that it could focus on the important little ships in order to emphasize the roles played by various small ships.

In order to show the significant changes in Victoria Port, I also used montage editing techniques to montage several movies of early docks in the present port to create comparisons. I created tension and tightness by moving back and forth between the images of the cozy boats used by current people and the harbor that was previously crowded with battleships and goods. More importantly, I used the zoom shooting technique to give people a sense of being both far away and close up when I first started showing people the Star Ferry. In order to provide the audience with more cognition and space to comprehend and introduce, I utilize the following lens and maintain a steady camera to track the orbit of the Star Ferry.

In the final section, I pieced together many Windows bits to depict people living affluent and joyful lives. These fragments included rainy days, ships splashing water after them, people walking down the street, birds flying over the eaves, and more. One of only three night views in the world, the view of the harbor at night from both sides of Victoria is a well-known tourist destination. Due to the abundance of tall structures on both Hong Kong Island and the Kowloon Peninsula, Victoria Harbour’s two sides appear to shine in the dark when they are next to each other. I employed the panning technique to obtain a panoramic view of Victoria Harbor’s two sides, which were illuminated on all sides by neon signs, emphasizing the harbor’s expanse and prosperity.

Your video is rich in historical context but it lacks a focus. I appreciate how you have incorporated historical images of the harbour in your video to contrast with the current days. It is also nice that you have mentioned the design principles of the Star Ferry (i.e. the use of colour) as it draws audiences’ attention. But your submission lacks a story – what argument are you trying to make? It would be much better if your narrative is supported with a focus and a series of research questions that help readers understand your intention. You should highlight the idea of ‘disappearance’ more if that is used as the topic of your work.

Please also note that it is important to provide a well-written bibliography. Simply copying and pasting the links is hard for readers to review your references.
