Description of the theme and subject matter, including the places and components
The main theme of the video is about the ongoing construction activities surrounding the observation wheel in Hong Kong Central. In my view, this site under construction may cause some trouble at the moment, but it tend to have many positive effects on Hong Kong in the future. In order to provide a comprehensive understanding and analysis, a range of photographs and videos captured during the fieldwork were utilized. Although the observation wheel in Central is a well-known tourist attraction, the tourism industry in Hong Kong has been experiencing a decline in recent times. The extensive construction works taking place in the vicinity of the observation wheel may pose a potential challenge, as they have the capacity to obstruct the scenic views that tourists seek to enjoy and various kinds of activities around the space. Until 2021, the space was a parking lot. It has been a construction site, and it was said that construction will begin in 2025, with completion in 2032. Given that Central serves as Hong Kong’s central business district, the construction spaces are primarily intended for the development of commercial buildings. The introductory section of the video is dedicated to providing background information about the construction site space under investigation. The video also includes any relevant news or events associated with the space. By presenting this information, the video aims to establish a comprehensive understanding of the space and its significance. More importantly, the importance of this space for Hong Kong is included in terms of the current concerns and future prospects. To be more specific, the video involves development of the space may bring potential benefits in the long run, contributing to the overall growth and vitality of the city. At the same time, the video would suggest the present concerns associated with the ongoing construction and its potential impact on the surrounding environment and amenities. By incorporating these elements, the video offers a holistic portrayal of the construction site near the observation wheel in Hong Kong Central.
Method of conducting the research and producing the video
When it comes to research methodology, my approach involved several key steps to ensure a comprehensive investigation. Firstly, I began by carefully selecting the research subject, followed by identifying specific aspects within the chosen area that helped further exploration and understanding. To gain more insights, I did extensive online research related to my video content. For example, I tried to find and read some previous studies and news articles related to the space I want to research, which allowed me to build a solid foundation of knowledge.
Then, I started planning my field work, taking into consideration factors such as location, weather conditions, and the duration of the project. These considerations were crucial in ensuring the efficiency of my research, as they allowed me to optimize the time spent at the chosen space and gather relevant information easily.
Throughout the fieldwork, I spent a lot of time observing the space. I took detailed notes, such as recording the spatial layout and characteristics of the space. Additionally, I tried to use a variety of techniques to capture effective visuals. For example, I focus on the arrangement of elements in the frame with the aim of creating balanced compositions. To provide a unique perspective that shows specific elements of the subject, I took photos and videos from different angles, such as capturing details from high vantage points, low, or up close shots. To add visual interest and direct the attention of viewers, I made use of techniques such as zooming. In my view, these camera movements not only enhanced the visual appeal of the footage but also contributed to the storytelling aspect of the video.
Before beginning the video production process, it was important to consolidate and synthesize the information gathered from my fieldwork. I dedicated time to reviewing my findings and drawing conclusions on the basis of the results collected. This step was crucial in ensuring that the subsequent video can better reflected the essence of my research. In addition, to create a cohesive final product, I carefully edited and sequenced the footage, incorporated suitable music, and utilized text overlays. Adding music was able to evoke emotions and create a more immersive viewing experience. Text overlays could offer additional context and enhancing comprehension of the content of video. I strategically employed text overlays to supplement the visuals and reinforce key concepts or information. This approach enabled the video effectively conveyed the research findings while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative and ensured that the viewers could fully grasp the significance of the research. Although post-production editing always can play a vital role in refining and improving the quality of the videos, I decided not to rely on this too heavily because I wanted to ensure that the essence and authenticity of the captured footage remained intact. By minimizing excessive editing, the viewers are also capable of connecting with the subject matter more.
Conclusion and Reflection
In summary, I produced a video about the construction site near the observation wheel in Hong Kong Central. I discussed the importance of this space for Hong Kong. My research methodology covered a number of stages, including the identification of research subjects, extensive online research, meticulous fieldwork planning, detailed observation and recording, and the use of multiple filming techniques. By adhering to this holistic approach, I ended up producing videos that represent my research findings.
