There are quite a few parallels we can draw between sci-fi films and reality. The hunter-gatherer city has a few versions. The first version is quite benign, it only looks for better places to reside, when its original location is polluted or politically unsuitable. Other versions are less friendly, some throw citizens out and others may be led by greed. The harmful version reminds me of some countries which throw out their minorities today. Their rights are disrespected and their wellbeing or even right to life threatened. This happens in India to Muslims, in Myanmar to Rohingya, etc. Although the first version may sound benign on the surface, this kind of mobile city may also cause conflicts considering the huge population in the world and the limited natural resources the Earth has. When mobile cities decide to reside on the same piece of land, what happens then?

It is nice that you are able to draw parallels between sci-fi cities and real-life situations. Fictions are always created by people who live in the real world, thus ideas in the story are more or less evident in real life. It is true that the mobile city encourages its citizens to exploit a place and dump it, rather than look for ways to enhance sustainability. You have made a sharp reflection on the seemingly benign option which is appreciated.
