Reading Response: Roland Barthes

In the article, Barthes focused on describing the technologies widely used in cinemas, such as visual effects, sound, lighting, and environment, and the impact of the use of these technologies on moviegoers. His perspective brought me perspective on the use of new technologies in film.
Undoubtedly, the birth of the art form of film is due to the development of technology. Before, I always believed that emerging technologies were undoubtedly beneficial to the development of films because they can effectively improve film production efficiency and increase the possibility of more post-editing. But after reading this article, I can’t help but think if the focus of filmmakers gradually deviates from the beauty of the film itself, that is, the function of film for recording and telling, and puts more energy into Will showing off advanced technology hinder the development of movies to some extent?
In other words, new methods and technologies might be a double-edged sword.
