Reading Response: Zhen Zhang

The development of modern Chinese films is closely related to the urban environment. As a new form of entertainment, film has quickly occupied the mainstream position in the market, so cinema has become a new element in many architectural landscapes. Most high-end theaters prefer to show Hollywood blockbusters while some second-rate theaters only show Chinese movies. The popularity of films is closely related to the publicity work. Many magazines have film columns, but they mainly promote non-domestic films, mostly Hollywood films. So Chinese films need to learn some lessons from Hollywood films to help promote the development of Chinese films. Learning some shooting techniques of foreign films can greatly improve the quality of Chinese films, so as to attract more audiences, instead of being limited to the existing and familiar techniques. China can well blend it with Chinese traditional culture, forming a unique teahouse culture. Conversely, this teahouse culture also becomes a unique means to publicize Chinese films.

You are able to extract the fundamental ideas introduced by the reading and organize them in a precise manner. Yet, some interpretations may not be elaborate as you have seemed to over-simplify the ideas. More logical development should be seen before reaching a conclusion, such as the idea of how teahouse culture has blended into Chinese films.
