I can’t pinpoint a specific new finding because the research that I conducted about the Tanka was all new to me… the purpose of research is not only to study the history of a certain era or people, the excitement to venture into an unknown territory is equally important to create something that’s relevant to the present and to our audience. As for influencing the story, I presume such finding is actually crucial for the screen writer. Costume design is never meant to influence the story although we could make use of these findings and apply them to the costume for the director / cinematographer to decide whether these details enhance the depth of a character and perhaps add interests to the overall storytelling.
