    To be honest, when I design the costume for a character, preference of the audience is not a priority as it is something that I cannot predict, it’s not my concern if the audiences “like” the costume of a given character. Instead I would rather analyse and remain faithful to the traits of character as written by the script, meanwhile challenging their perception of characters without interfering the plot. There’s no absolute formula to strike a perfect balance, as for me, it is always a journey of exploration, an organic process in many ways! Sometimes I even intentionally off set the balance, in order to create something more unpredictable, as humans are never perfectly cast in the same mould.
