Field Trip One: Wan Chai Wet Market- depicting Hong Kong space

Photographic Technique

Focus The emphasis on the light  of seafood reflects the perceptual space

Zoom magnification exaggerates the texture and color of the meat

Wide Angle&Worm’s eye illustrates the multi-functional behavioral space

Crop Canopy and the moving bus frame one space into two

Seriality The pigeons shape the time

Skewed Angle/Bird’s Eye can show the arrangements of objects in the space

Contrast A solitary foam box reveals its brightness by contrasting with the dark backdrop

View Frame A proper view frame has a depth in its space

First Person View We see the density of Hong Kong by street view

Perspective

These four pictures represent the one-point perspective and three-point perspective respectively in the Euclidean space. The diminishing horizon not only emphasizes the density of architecture along the streets but also highlights the vertical distance between the street stores and the skyscrapers. Through these layers of stacking, we see a tremendous utility of urban space, partitioned into multiple units, which is framing the various depth of reality. The vertical walls and horizontal corridors intersect each other inside the void dimension, making such space look rather sophisticated but still vibrant.

You have chosen some interesting subject matters to capture. It may be interesting to escape the human perspective in capturing these shots in order to emphasize the subject matter. You can more experimental in your camera position angle, whether it is on the floor along with the styrofoam boxes or next to the hung meat looking at the consumers.
