Description:
Sense is an important way of understanding the world, however the pandemic has breakdown people’s approach to the outside world for the stimulation. The cognition of human develop the ‘epistemology’ which means our knowledge in human to understand the world and self. In daily practices, we sense the world through eye(light sensory), ear(audio sensory), hand(touch sensory), these are collaborated as cognition.
However, cognition could be twisted from the false interpretation, mislead deliberately in a systematic manner, especially in these days, we, human, are unilaterally stimulated by electronic devices, may fade our normal way of sense away.
This video will explore how people’s light and audio sensory, have affected by the internet interpretation, the deliberately planned attack from the information, which may come from propaganda from government to fool people, abundance of internet flow through internet system to bombard human sensory organs. The challenges from the internet to human cognition will focus on colour and audio sensory, can human normal sense and knowledge overcome the challenges, by how?
The cartoon character, Miffy confront the threats and suicides.
Script(Narrative& Dialogue):
[Wake up]
Narrative: A day in the pandamic
Miffy: Aughhh…(yarn) It’s another day
[mask and handkerchief]
It lovely today, the gentle blue sky,
With healthy green,
And red, my favourite
Oh… it’s picky, perhaps, I’d wear the blue mask, that match with the sky.
[Looking out of the window]
I want to go out and play with my friends, it’s not fun staying at home for weeks.
But the virus outspread is still serious out there.
Maybe I’d look for some information before I go out.
[Searching the web]
So Miffy search for some news on the web
[Scrolling]
Narrative: Look at the screen, an abundance of information rush into her mind.
Meanwhile, a noise merge
(A noise in the brain) Hey, hey, hey…! Hey, hey, hey…!
[Connection]
Narrative: Soon, she fainted, her soul connected to the system, her visual and audio sensory were able to sense and interact with the system connected to the internet.
[Sea]
Miffy: Oh, where am I?
Network: I’m the truth, I’ll guide you to sense colour. To own the instinct and master knowledge.
Miffy: Okay!
Network: Tell me, what’s white?
Miffy: White is fluffy, like cotton. And snow, very soft
[Shopping mall]
Eww… It’s white here.
Network: White. Be careful, white is used to cover serfdom, swipe away your hardworking effort. White is tactics of commercialism.
[Zebra crossing]
Network: You can see lots of colour, right?
Miffy: Right!
Network: These people with different brands and colour are the lost soul! Being deprived and working relentlessly
Miffy: But they’re just people, maids…. walking around
Network: Belief me, they are. You’d trust your instinct, you will have struggle in developing, but you are different in genes
Miffy: Well… it sounds right.
Network: Follow the instinct I teach you, don’t think too much.
[central]
Miffy: But I watched rainbow with Snuffy, it is colourful. I can’t stop thinking those memories. What should I do? What should I do?
Network: Don’t trust them, trust me!
Miffy: No! I rather belief my own recognition to the world.
Never you take my sensory and my belief!
Now! Take me back where I were
[Get back]
Narrative: Miffy, Miffy, are you alright?
Miffy: Aww… Yes, thank god! I’d belief my way of comprehending the world, images with others interpretation could be fake.
Narrative: Glad you know that.

Overall your thesis on the investigation of the density of information in current times is an intriguing topic that opens itself up to endless readings. Appreciate your creative approach to exploring this further and questioning the existence of fake news, censorship and propaganda. The allegorical nature is clear, however, the nature and content of commentary here could be strengthened with more clarity and correct use of terminology. Aside from a few grammatical mistakes, the word “merge” should instead be “emerge” as the two words have completely different definitions. In terms of content, colour seems to play a significant role in the video (both being visually presented and talked about in the script). In particular, could you expand on what the significance of “white” is visually and metaphorically in this video? We see and hear about it as a repeated motif throughout and tied to the narrated ideas of “commercialism” and “cover-up of serfdom”.
For visual design, appreciate the dynamic use of camera and editing techniques, especially of the tram scene in which you overlaid multiple clips to create a chaotic sea of visuals. This imagery related strongly to your thesis on the overstimulation of information! Also, there is a minor incongruence of white caption over certain clips but the latter part of black captions worked well.
