Synopsis:
As COVID-19 spreads around the world, amusement parks are an essential part of the city as a paradise for children. This short film reflects the effective management to COVID-19 in a city through the change of the relationship between a little girl and the playground. I created this story based on facts, timeline and memories.
Making of video/ Description:
First of all, I spent 40 seconds to introduce a general situation and background of COVID-19, so that the audience would have a clear idea of it and would not be confused. During this period of introduction, I used some sound effects, such as cough and heartbeat, to make the audience feel more immersive. At the same time, at the culmination of this introduction segment-closing the city, I added a horror music segment to infect the audience and create a tense atmosphere. When silence appears, the music stops abruptly, and then enters a 10-second silent segment.
Then, the story enters the theme-the little girl looks at the playground outside the window. My videos here are all dark to reflect the frustration of the little girl and the lifelessness brought about by the epidemic. I gave the girl a close-up of her profile, reflecting his desire for an amusement park. Immediately after accessing a fragment of an amusement park, the amusement park was empty. Under the dark background, it reflected the strict management of the epidemic.
The next part is that the epidemic situation has been improved after strict control, and people can gradually engage in some outdoor activities. The little girl can also play in the amusement park, but there are close-ups of her wearing a mask and washing hands with disinfectant to show order.
The last part is about the situation when the epidemic has almost improved. The video clip shows that the little girl no longer has to play with a mask. I took a second shot of the same place here, and the second time the little girl ran towards the slide was in contrast to the first time when it was empty. Finally, I said in the video my summary and the little girl finally got her wish and went on a swing with his friend.
To add some small points, the ppt at the beginning is all with a black background, and then as the epidemic situation improves, the background color gradually fades. The background of the video also gradually becomes brighter from dark. In oder to make the story more completely, the time of the video is longer than the time limit, I am sorry about that.
Refection
My video wants to emphasize the effective management of the government helps to improve the epidemic and cherish the life without the the trouble of the epidemic. Only when everyone is united can solve the covid-19 and return to the good old days.

I really appreciate the way how you create a hook at the beginning of your video to bring out your theme of a “silent city”. The contrast at the beginning is very outstanding, I was thinking that you would create a city of crisis, because the tone and the background music at the beginning is very tense, but then, a few seconds of silence which having no sounds but pictures really shows the silence when the pandemic started. It shows the things that are quieting down, things that are “changing”: the city are locked down, people are expected to stay at home, and neither people nor cars in the city really shows the thrilling silence and the unexpected future of the city. Then, when the city is recovering, something still remained to be silent: the social distancing makes people to keep quiet, no matter the people queueing in line and waiting , or the girl playing in the playground, they all kept quiet. So I think the contents you chose for your video is very suitable and impressive.
It was a well crafted first-hand documentation of the playground when you narrated your argument using the little girl as the protagonist. However, it could be even more rigorous in documentation if you use fewer stock images and replace them with your shots instead. Otherwise, you could also share more images from news, etc. When you do, make sure you cite/refer to the sources properly. In addition, it would be productive to narrate your argument with reflections upon the concepts we had discussed in the class/tutorial. In academic assignments, you might want to take a closer look at articles, journals, papers, or books as key references.
