[Field Trip III] Mood Board: Lai Tak Estate

Hong Kong is home to many unique and distinct pieces of architecture; the four spiral blocks located in Lai Tak Estate, Tai Hang is just one example of this. The peculiarity of this estate is highlighted through its hollow courtyard, found in each of the four buildings. Looking up from the centre of the courtyard, all you see is spirals among spirals of corridors. In my mood board, I have attempted to focus on the colours that accentuate this estate: soft shades of pink and blue, colours I find very warm and homely. I also included three shots from a music video that was filmed in this location, as I was not allowed to take pictures myself from a bird’s eye view; this clearly shows how the unique aspects of these buildings have popularised it in many forms of media nowadays, such as how it was used as a shooting location for the film Ghost in the Shell (2017).
