With the technique of chiaroscuro, the glorious dark night contrasts with the crisp white jacket. The city lights symbolise the fun that could be out there. The hanging jacket “looking out” expresses the desperate want to leave home and have some fun out there. The conflict is that one wants to go out, yet does not want to risk her health. The contrasting colours depict the contradicting mind under the health crisis.

  1. Annie Lye says:

Appreciate your candidness in “to leave or not to leave,” in which the sense of hesitation is palpable. You demonstrate a good understanding of the tasks and the accompanying captions help us contextualize the unique situation of your domestic and immediate environment. Some particularly striking shots are:
First person – great shot and framing! This photo immediately brings us into your domestic interior life and alludes to a commentary on the new-found spare time that we all have in life under house quarantine.
Aerial – powerful imagery that shows the orderliness and intensity of mask demand and its lack of supply.
A few areas of improvement would be to better control the colors and the compositions of some of the images:
You have several strong stand-alone photos, though as a set it could be improved and made more cohesive. This could include keeping the tonality of the photos unified.
Seriality – technically a series of 2 is a set / a pair. Seriality would require more than 3 photos in a sequence that reveal a development or unfolding of an event. Perhaps for this subject matter, it could show the transition of the mahjong table turning into your studio workspace.
