I have a few questions for Director Chen and his movie the Dreamland. The main character is working for the estate and keeps on showing many different houses. Does each of the house chosen to explain and show have an architectural meaning? Why did you choose Cambodia as the background of this movie? I noticed that the filming techniques at many time seems like we’re peeking at the characters from behind the curtains or through the doors is there a reason for that? Dohyun Kim 3036192536
The white noise in the background of this movie appealed to me, including its lighting effects that made some of the images seem a little hazy. A lot of the frames have the sides blocked out leaving a small frame in the center, and there are a lot of frames that follow the characters moving parallel to each other, why were they shot this way?
Why would you use greasy windows for the main character’s car and house, while the windows in the houses she show are very clean? Is it simply because that vendors show the best side of their products, or is there much more it symbolises? Thank you!
What was the significance of the apartment (shared by the main character and her partner) in terms of representing the relationship of the main couple in the movie? As a director, what particular aspects of this specific apartment did you like to choose it for this film and to help dictate the relationship between the main couple? (Anvesha Bajpai)
I am not familiar with Cambodia film and i found out that there are many shots that are quiet, which is completely different for those movies I watched before. Is there a reason to do that?
There are lots of shots focused on the interiors of the house when she works as a real estate broker. What is the intention behind showing how the main character shows the customers different properties? Are those multiple-level red brick buildings very common in Cambodia? What is the typical housing structure over there?
Why do you always incorporate classic songs and present them in the form of music videos when the main character expresses his inner thoughts?
Why did you choose Cambodia as the film location and its language? Cui Yuxiang 3036218184
There are a significant amount of scenes where blurred light bubbles were presented around the edges of the screen. The extensive use of light blurring and colour manipulation makes those scenes very special and facinating to me, is there any particular reason to adopt this kind of filming techniques?
