Item 16: Hotel California — The Eagles
The mood board described the story I would like to tell from top left to bottom right in a z-shape order. It is about an originally sporty and outgoing teenager being more and more addicted to stay-home lifestyle during quarantine due to a lack of self regulation. I would like to use this story as an allegory to state the importance of self regulation, especially in modern days where entertainments like online games and online social media are quite addictive, it is hard to be self-discipline and once you violate your own rules, you would be deemed to repeat it infinite more time.
So, in the first row: the top left 2 photos are my research on sporty, outgoing wearings for teens for the protagonist; mainly fast-dry T-shirts and hiking trousers or sport brand wearings. The third left item on top role is the set of first scene, TV report when the protagonist know about the news. The next are researches on daily life wearings at home. Top right corner is a photo of protagonist being tired and bored due to lack of regulation in resting time management.
The second row: Leftest up is a shot from the video: “Art of Montage: BETTER CALL SAUL” from you tube, time 5:07. It shows repeated shots of the male protagonist purchasing coffee from coffee machine at the public defense court showing the gain of experience as a public defender for the protagonist. I would hope to adopt similar montage in my video to show repeating lifestyle of the protagonist. leftest bottom is an image of being alone, the middle one is a research which shows majority teenagers experience depression during quarantine. The right image would be a scene which the protagonist is getting depressed and tired of his lifestyle.
The third row: left one indicate the activities the protagonist do at home, middle one shown mindset of depression. Bottom right one would be a hypothetical scene in which the quarantine has ended. I would like to use this to show the change the protagonist has experienced in this story, using a same frame as the scene earlier in second row up.
Music: I have chosen 3 musics that I find quite suitable to express boredom, depression and alone respectively.

– Beyond self-regulation, what about over-regulation? Or think about re-regulation, re-regulation, etc.
– Explore the possibility of satire. Can routine become obsolete?
– Consider the points of view of your subject(s), and how they engage the spaces they are in, e.g. distance.
