This article talks about various grade-separated pedestrian systems which built in different city. These airways serve as a link between different buildings, and connect buildings with different functions in the city. In Hong Kong, due to the increase of population and the scarcity of land, the air passage is widely used. In Hong Kong’s dense buildings and hot climate, people can use airways to move between cities earlier. As the article says, though people enjoy the convenience of the airways, not many people really pay attention to it. However, as a link between different Spaces in cities, the airway is also of great value in urban architecture planning and aesthetic. I think this kind of grade-separated system is also an urban feature, because the spatial hierarchy is an indispensable architectural element.
