[MOOD BOARD]: Change?

What will the city be like in 2021? Nothing too extravagant. There wouldn’t be much change from what is happening now. I wouldn’t be too optimistic about social change and improvement, we would be living the same life, in the same ol’ house. The same cup noodles, the same view, the same news… When will this end? What can make things change? Perhaps it is very unlikely to change, this would go on until… I don’t know. We might well just accept the fact that this lifestyle would be eternal, and cherish the moments the times we have left. Maybe

[Mood Board] Chaos

The virus struck the world deeply, the way we see, the way we learn, the way we interact are totally changed. Under all these sudden changes, I guess all of us were overwhelmed. Some say that we already used to these changes, it’s soon that we take this as customs., but I don’t think so. As more cases are revealed, death cases around the world spikes, supply chains are highly disrupted, can we still centre our own work? our own

[Mood Board] Utopia?

Coronavirus has deadly disrupted the world, and, at the same time, pushed the development of technologies, as well as the understanding of self sufficiency. On the left of the mood board, cold and empty streets, as presented in Bladerunner 2049 and Ghost in the Shell, may become the reality in 2021, when people fear of physical contacts. At the same time, physical barriers are replaced by more immersive consumer gadgets, to foster a more intimate connection between people. Food companies may finally focus on producing merchants to plant vegetables or other types food at home. Perhaps, in 2021, the lifestyle

[Mood Board] MMXXI

Do you miss the life before the coronavirus crisis? No worries! With the aid of virtual reality, you could enjoy digital resemblances of pre-pandemic lifestyle. Hiking simulator, digital party, e-workspace, everything would seem fine…… As long as you don’t take the hyper-realistic simulation machine off your head. Almost a year since the global economy collapsed and the society fell, the apartment flat has become solely a container of your physical body. Compared to the digital world, there is no incentive for you to interact or “live” in this built environment anymore. Amid the unstable situation, technology might be the only

[Mood Board]: Routine

My video-essay will be the in the form of a documentary, showing fragments of my life under the virus outbreak, especially how the outbreak will affect my lifestyle. Because I will be the one filming this video-essay, I am using a wooden model as a ‘stand-in’ who will be the protagonist of the video. I will place the model around my house, with it standing in front of different objects, hence I can have a new view on changes on my life and how it relates with the environment of my home. Included in the MoodBoard are some scenes and

[Mood Board] Take-out, savior of food industry

My idea for the video essay is to make a documentary about take-out food delivery man’s routine. Under this health crisis, nobody is willing to dine-in and take-out business is the only thing keeping the food industry alive. I hope the documentary could show the importance of those delivery men, and by shooting there working routine, I could also show the overall status of the city. In order to highlight the importance of take-out business, I hope to include news and google searching results regarding the coronavirus and food industry. For the purpose of showing the work routine and city

[Mood Board] Losing someone to coronavirus

I plan to tell the story of a girl who lost a friend to coronavirus, and I want to visualize the emptiness she feels through the space of her apartment and an MTR station. The mood board contains both photographs I took and inspirations from other videos. The spaces are somewhat empty, messy, dark and they feel foreign. I would say that they symbolize the feelings this person went through after her friend passed away from contracting covid-19.   Duan Yipeng 3035660146

[Mood Board] Classroom

The mood board is divided into two major compartments, using a white line in between to separate different content. On the left, it captures moments of indoor life as people all maintain social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic. Moving on to the right side, outdoor images serve to expand one’s perspective and subsequently reveal the theme that life is just a classroom. A wide spectrum of colours is included in the mood board to convey the idea that challenges and opportunities always go hand in hand, allowing us to experience life in all possible ways. [Mood Board] Love

Please click this if the animated gif does not work The video essay will be conducted in the form of allegory, which argues the relationship (mainly Family) is not solely spending time together but truly care about each other. The video hypothesize that  in 2021, family relationships were rekindled during the outbreak of coronavirus returns to how it was like before the outbreak.
