Maybe I’d look for some information before I go out.

Network: Tell me, what’s white?

Miffy: White is fluffy, like cotton. And snow, very soft

[Shopping mall]

Eww… It’s white here.

Network: White. Be careful, white is used to cover serfdom, swipe away your hardworking effort. White is tactics of commercialism.

Now! Take me back where I were

  1. Annie Lye says:

Overall your thesis on the investigation of the density of information in current times is an intriguing topic that opens itself up to endless readings. Appreciate your creative approach to exploring this further and questioning the existence of fake news, censorship and propaganda. The allegorical nature is clear, however, the nature and content of commentary here could be strengthened with more clarity and correct use of terminology. Aside from a few grammatical mistakes, the word “merge” should instead be “emerge” as the two words have completely different definitions. In terms of content, colour seems to play a significant role in the video (both being visually presented and talked about in the script). In particular, could you expand on what the significance of “white” is visually and metaphorically in this video? We see and hear about it as a repeated motif throughout and tied to the narrated ideas of “commercialism” and “cover-up of serfdom”.

For visual design, appreciate the dynamic use of camera and editing techniques, especially of the tram scene in which you overlaid multiple clips to create a chaotic sea of visuals. This imagery related strongly to your thesis on the overstimulation of information! Also, there is a minor incongruence of white caption over certain clips but the latter part of black captions worked well.
