I choose the title as ‘Indigo Child’ with two terminological reasons.
First of all, literally, this magnificent building that consists of thousands of reflective glasses spends most of its time in the form of deep ocean blue color. The building itself, sky, and the Victoria Harbour at its front harmonize together and projects this beautiful spectrum of blue and navy (indigo).
The urban definition of Indigo Child is ‘a person or young adult who does not and can not comply with modern society and come here to help the transition of the energies of the earth in the near future.’ Paul Rudolph’s 1988 masterpiece, ‘Lippo Centre’, was definitely the culmination of his ideas in reflective glasses and his Brutalist architecture. Not only ended as one of the various exotic architectures, but the Lippo Centre also played the key role in granting uniqueness to Hong Kong which allowed people to imagine and realize the near future at the same time. It was transiting the energies from the future to the present, it was the ‘Indigo Child’ of urban architectures.
