[Field-Homework 1] Frozen

1.Wide-angle: The only shop that opens on the one side of the street is a supermarket.

2.Zoom: Outside a restaurant, four delivery men seems to wait for the order. Most of the restaurants in the city advised customers to takeout now.

3.Crop: My cousin is writing down Math note during the class suspension in the study.

4.Bird’s eye(overlook): In the washing room, a bucket of medical alcohol is a new comer to the environment. After the outbreak, the alcohol becomes one of the most important supplies in the prevention of infection.( limited by conditions)

5.Worm’s view: A lonely cat jumping off her dustbin where she usually stays and waits for leftovers is the only dynamic color in the frame.

6.First person view: A peddler with mask is selling his fresh carrots in an old community. Farmers have to sell part of the crops before they decays in order to cut losses.

7.Skewed angle: Teenagers seek to communicate with their friends and have entertainments online when they are bored of staying in the rooms as well as limited backyard.

8.Perspective: Long lines of Cars park on the side road. There is little traffic on the road and people usually go out to buy daily necessities nearby.

9.View frame: Outside the car’s window, a group of elderly people with masks are doing exercise. Behind them, there is a board with slogan that encourages citizens to establish a wonderful homeland.

10.Contrast (color): The cloudy weather lasts for nearly one week. Quiet school, quiet city but the booming flowers are as usual. The empty yellow and red buildings belongs to a primary school and they have not been painted now.

11.Seriality: People with masks lines up and log in before entering a food store.

12.Focus: Lanterns and FU character decorating the store which should have opened several days before if there was not the outbreak. Red is a lucky color in China and also a metaphor for booming business to the sellers. But now, they have to close up. It is special for us to spend this festival in a totally different celebration ways. But we know this is what we should do to defeat the 2019-nCoV. There are patients suffering from the Pneumonia and also many people are risking their lives in protecting us like doctors, police, and volunteers.

The crisis makes some objects appear more frequently in the images like masks and closed shops. What’s more, what and how people behave are also a indirect reflection of it.

The frozen city looks lifelessness but people still waiting for a warm Spring with hope.

An excellent collection of photographs that effectively convey the health and environmental crisis from your point of view! The sense of authorship and visual consistency is strong. Appreciate the cinematic quality that you inject into all the photographs and there is a compelling narrative here. You have a good grasp of color, tonation and composition. The wide angle shot is very deliberate, even exaggerated.
The zoom shot feels voyeuristic, as if you are spying (even better yet if you can have something in the foreground to show that you/the camera lens is located in the distance and you are intentionally zooming in. For example, a little hint of a curtain or edge line of a window etc.)
Perspective shot is very nicely composed in symmetry.
View frame shot from the car window and your accompanying commentary reveals clarity in thought and observation. .
The focus shot is good though you can try to sharpen the lanterns even more so that they stand out more against the duller background of greys and browns. Thoughtful reflection on the red lanterns against the row of closed shops.
    Overall a very good job!
