What’s happening in the next alley? You can never anticipate that. The narrow volume of space allows privacy. People can do whatever they like, owning their territories.  Complexity in human activities is developed. The boundaries between them are blurry. Where is the threshold? To me, the alleys are not limited to space between buildings. They actually extend into buildings. In the Photo, the shop is located in the entrance hall of a residential building. The threshold of the building could hardly be located. It gives a reason for people to walk into a private building. That’s the beauty of old architecture which could not be found in modern gated residential buildings.

I appreciate your black and white technique choice to capture specific moments. It seems that your ‘Owner and her alley shop’ was not successfully uploaded, otherwise interesting findings, yet a connecting topic or issue would have made it more fruitful.
