Field Trip 2: Escalators

Static

Showing the circulation of the escalator that going up and down.

Stop Motion and Framing

Using the infrastructure to frame the circulation of the junction between the walkway, the staircase and the escalator. Also, the stop motion can show the movement with clear directions and capture the complexity created by the infrastructure.

Stop Motion

Showing the journey of the escalator with the stop motion which captures the view frame every second of the journey. The experience on the escalator can be captured and frozen because all the view is static. It could probably create a stronger impression of view every second. By comparing to the continuous filming, the stop motion might be able to show more about frozen details and emotion of two sides like shops and people who are passing by. It is more interesting to show the moment of that particular second of the journey.

Slow Motion

The contrast of filming the slow motion shot between standing on the escalator and resting on a place is intriguing because filming on the escalator actually have two ways of motions which could enhance the different dynamic of the inside and outside.

I am not sure if you appreciate or criticize your stop motion technique, but your experiment of going up though a static view and see the unintentional movements of the person in front of you offers some interesting starting points for further film experiments.
