Reading Response: Pamela Wojcik

In this week’s reading, the topic of the apartment has opened me up to a common type of setting that I’ve failed to notice in the countless of films that I have watched. Compared to an independent housing complex, an apartment represents one story out of the many the exist in the building. It can be used to convey a sense of community, isolation, culture, feeling as the space itself is much smaller and compact with characters, creating close interactions into memorable stories. I especially agree with the perspective of how any character can meet one another as the “chance” is created with the system of a building. The immersive experience of also being in the same environment as them makes the movie seem more relatable and can be more emotional because of it’s realism.

A perceptive reflection, which reveals how the reading has introduced you to another way of watching films.
