The difference between “space” and “place” is depends on the dynamic and static feature of the described term. In my perspective, “space” is a dynamic idea while “place” is static. As “space” is “composed of intersections of mobile elements” (p.117). Thus, “space” is impossible to be static, as interactions and interconnectivity is essential in this situation. In films, a space is mostly created by characters, or between objects and objects. The ‘stickiness’ between every symbolic or non-symbolic beings is always existed. Whereas “place” can be very static, it can be a construct without any interactions. For example, Time Square can be a “place”. If the character in the film mentions about Time Square, Time Square only exist in his words but no direct interaction is happened between the character and Time Square. However, if the character is standing in Time Square, talking to another character. Then Time Square transforms into the space of these two characters’ conversation, but not a place anymore, because interactions are happening in this “place”.

I appreciate that you write about space and place and provide an example of the difference between the two. Rather than a response, your text seems to summarize what is being said in De Certeau’s text. In the text, you should have 1 to 2 sentences for introduction and situate how space and place relate to walking in the city and spatial stories.
