[MOOD BOARD] Self Atlas

“In 2021, I would rather be warm and happy than cold” When the world experiences collective isolation, People are forced to confine themselves in separate rooms and minimize social connections. It’s easy to fall into pessimists’ suspicion, anger, and even perplexity: why am I trapped in such a small space? What is my value without contact with others? What does time mean to me? And, who am I? However, from an optimistic point of view, isolation does not mean loneliness. It is an opportunity to face the soul directly, to self-discovery and self-recovery. Try to discover the new value of

[Mood Board] Inside the ‘Cage’

Description It is one of the stories of those in their quarantines. As COVID-19 traverses the globe, people are pretty fragile. They are locked in a small ‘cage’, being self-isolated. Tensions at home and aboard are compounding the environment fraught with fear and confusion. The feelings of loneliness, anger, and alienation could consume them. At the same time, the spring has arrived. People struggle about whether or not to go for an outing. They realize that the spring didn’t bring them hope and virality. The ambulances and fire truck siren outside. Everything seems to be the worst. However, there are

[Mood Board] Sense

Measures are implemented to avoid direct connection between people, resulted in a changing of social network from reality to virtual world. Boundaries between countries and space have been blurred, when social interaction space moved to internet, time and distance is relatively small to human. However, our sense has its limit, the density of information stimulating us, fake news, censorship and propaganda reach far beyond our limits. Following another new wave of modernization, such space, time and architecture are recreated, the computation is redefining how we sense, analysis, judge and feel. The revolutionary changes have recreated a city containing souls. Lee

[MoodBoard] Oversaturation

Oversaturation personifies the terror of living under COVID-19 with psychdelic-colored fluids. The life is drained out of the main character, thus the desaturated colors, as a result of the negativity that resulted from the pandemic, a nauseating flow of colors and information. The animatronic starts slow, but as the fear propagates with the disease, the pace picks up, the switching of scenes accelerating with a steady rhythm. This tension builds and is resolved by a reassuring call from a friend bursting through the wall of colors, and the fear starts to fade. There is light at the end of the

[MOOD BOARD] SWEVEN

Mood Board “SWEVEN” is a Middle English that refers to a dream. My film is going to first capture the darkness of the city, then follow with the hope and brightness side of the city – which is mainly initiated by sound (music) and light (yellow light gives a sense of warmness), so to reflect the dynamic changes of my film, tone of the mood board change from black and white (upper part) to black with yellow (bottom part). Picture of dying heartbeat, rainy day, dark coffee, messy bed-sheet, etc. imply a ‘dying city’. On the other hand, a picture

[Mood Board] [Description] Genre: Allegory South Korea has been effectively responding with COVID-19, rapidly decreasing its cases. Here, ‘technology’ took a huge part in handling the crisis. [Mood Board]Recover

After the serious outbreak of coronavirus,  Changchun, a city in North-eastern China, has started to recover from the sorrow. There is no confirmed infection case at the current stage, so people no longer have to stay at home for self-quarantine. Thus, groups of young people, who are considered as the leader of the pop trend in North-eastern China, begin to go on the street to seek pleasure. However, is it the true recovery? It is interesting how North-eastern China, or Dongbei, has developed from an agricultural and industrial district to the current stage. When the rural culture of this vast

[MOOD BOARD]: Change?

What will the city be like in 2021? Nothing too extravagant. There wouldn’t be much change from what is happening now. I wouldn’t be too optimistic about social change and improvement, we would be living the same life, in the same ol’ house. The same cup noodles, the same view, the same news… When will this end? What can make things change? Perhaps it is very unlikely to change, this would go on until… I don’t know. We might well just accept the fact that this lifestyle would be eternal, and cherish the moments the times we have left. Maybe

[Mood Board] Chaos

The virus struck the world deeply, the way we see, the way we learn, the way we interact are totally changed. Under all these sudden changes, I guess all of us were overwhelmed. Some say that we already used to these changes, it’s soon that we take this as customs., but I don’t think so. As more cases are revealed, death cases around the world spikes, supply chains are highly disrupted, can we still centre our own work? our own
