[Field-Homework 1] A DAY OF MR. SPIDEY

HOW A DAY IS SPENT UNDER THE COVID19 CRISIS

Wide Angle – Where and who am I ?

Zoom – I am not feeling so well.

Focus – Probably I should take some rest and listen to some music.

Crop – Is it just me, or is it getting crazier out there?

Bird’s Eye – I wonder what is going on outside.

Worm’s Eye – I will go for a walk then.

First person view – Look what I found…

Skewed Angle – No. I cannot do this… It is not yet sterilised!

Perspective – Who are you?

View Frame – I just want to get out!

Contrast – No it’s not safe out there.

Seriality – The seriality describes the repeated dire fate of Mr Spidey. Being trapped in the room he can do nothing but wait. He is restricted from most interactions. Staring outside and looking at the computer, he hopes to get out and interact with others, but there are too many uncertainties out there.

You demonstrate some creative thinking here with Mr Spidey. Presumably he is a personification of his owner (you)? The collection of photographs convey well the sense of being trapped and of resignation. There is also clear narrative intention. The color tones are not too consistent so if that is intentional, you may wish to explain it. If not, do consider the tones of your photographs individually and also in relation to the others. The Contrast shot with the two toy subjects is a good start though not quite demonstrating chiaroscuro (light-dark; bright-dull)- try increasing the contrast before the two through either lighting or color. For example, Spidey is brightly lit versus the darker/in shadows Bot.
    Recommendations for…
Focus – increase the focus on the ear phones and Spidey and unfocus the rest
Bird’s Eye – bring your camera lens higher and/or tilt the lens down more vertically to achieve a more aerial effect
Worm’s Eye – bring your camera lens much lower, if that is possible and tilt the camera up more vertically to get a view from the bottom up
View Frame – clear choice of frame and subject matter but why the sepia color that is distinct from the rest? Are you invoking a memory? A dream?
Overall a witty collection of photographs starring Mr Spidey…
