[Reading Response: The multilevel Metropolis, Jennifer Yoos and Vincent James(Ami)]

The multilevel metropolis plays an essential role In our urban development, it is changing our lifestyle, also a fundamental resolution for urbanization base problem. In a densely populated city like Hong Kong, transportation in a 2D design by car or bus cost a lot of traffic jam, in that case promoting multilevel strategies can reduce the congestion, and engage a healthier lifestyle. Moreover, we are so used to the convenience of the multilevel transportation system that ignores it is a diverse and unique culture art. The centre to the mid-level escalator as an example, when I look into the detail, I find that the designer not only designs an escalator or walkway, it is an artistic architecture that represents our culture. Besides provided convenience to travel, it blends into the streets and urbanites daily life.

  1. Putri Santoso says:

You pointed out correctly how Yoos and James’ piece provided an alternate way of seeing elevated pedestrian connections. Elaborating more on the “how” and the “why” of things could help your readers to follow through with your argument and build a stronger argument in your essay. For example, when you mentioned that the elevated walkways performed as a “resolution to urban problems”, you might want to explain a little bit of what urban issue is addressed, and how do you see the walkways contribute as a solution to this issue. Another example is when you said that the Mid-level Escalator is an artistic work, pointing out how exactly it is artistic and representing our culture would be a way to go.
