[Field-Homework 1] A Life Within

Wide Shot – The walls that consume my view.

Focus – Something that is wished to be desired.

Zoom – “Time”passing by.

Crop – So close, yet so far.

Bird’s Eye View – Trapped inside the four edges.

Worm’s eye – Everything looks the same after awhile.

First Person View – It is impossible to escape the impossible.

Skewed Angle – The world beyond the border is greater than the within.

Perspective – The transformation of a commodity into a luxury.

View Frame – What used to be a view is now a means of escape.

Contrast – As darkness becomes light, light becomes darkness.

Seriality – A half cup full is the same as a half cup empty.

Seriality – Alone, the glass brings no meaning. Together, they show the timeline of the morale and emotions of a person staying inside his abode during this time period. While the background of the images are stale and no changes can be seen, they represent the world around us – the lack of freshness, lack of excitement, lack of passion, lack of innovation. What does that mean? Do we need to refill the cup so that it has the motivation and the morale to continue doing it’s tasks? Do we need to move the cup to another place – somewhere new and fresh, so that it’s passion for innovation will return? Only time will tell.

Overall, there is some innovative thinking on the presentation of your selection of subject matter. Ideas are clearly expressed visually and in the text.
The Wide shot is ambiguous as it comes across more as a Crop shot, suggesting there is much more to the wall of shelves. Clever thinking behind the globe and the clock.
Good contrast between the Bird’s eye and Worm’s eye views. The Worm’s eye shot at the moment seems to be the view of a pet (dog/cat?) or someone sprawled on the ground. You may wish to consider lowering the lens and tilting it up more to show more underside of things and dramatize the perspective.
Good try with the perspective shot but it can read more strongly if perhaps you highlight the 2 lines of vanishing – the box edge and the cabinet’s edge.
The View frame shot and Contrast shot read well as a part for Serial shots.
Appreciate your thinking regarding the slow passing of time using the glass cups of water (full and empty at the same time) and reinforced by your reflective writing.
