[Field-Homework 1] Sanitary Rut

1.Wide Angle

What an everyday looks like for almost the past two months.

2. Zoom

These days I touch my mouse more than the doorknob to go out of my home.

3. Focus

A ziplock bag with a mask always on hand whenever I leave my home.

4. Crop

My main form of communication are through these keys.

5. Bird’s Eye

The desk is scattered with an array of items that have not been organised due to me being in the same space for a long time.

6. Worm’s Eye

The object sprawl expands all the way through the floor where textbooks are stacked upon another.

7. First Person View

When I finish my work I play online games with friends to give back the sense of socialising.

8. Skewed Angle

I feel I am stuck in a cycle of doing the same activities and my lack of organisation is apparent within the space.

9. Perspective

It comes to a point where I feel I should not go outside when I need to.

10. View Frame

I usually leave my room to refill my water bottle then head back into my room.

11. Chiaroscuro

My Room lit at night, talking and gaming with friends.

I used Chiaroscuro to convey the dangers of confining oneself in an environment. The luminous light seeping through the doorway insinuates the lack of a regular sleeping schedule which goes into the larger problem of being stuck in a rut due to the repetition of activities and space. I also implemented chiaroscuro due to showcase that I look forward to playing online games, when before I would play sports after school, with friends at night as it is the only sense of social activities these days which highlights the severity of the situation.

12. Seriality

Day in, day out the repetition definitely decreases motivation to do work.

Overall you demonstrate a good grasp of the task. Ideas are clearly expressed visually and through the writing. Some innovative thinking in the choice of subjects and corresponding techniques. There are a mix of clever, thoughtful and well-composed shots here. The Crop shot of the keyboard, Bird’s Eye view. First person view showing your online game and View frame using your water bottle are clever decisions as the contents themselves offer interesting and dynamic compositions, colors and geometries. Your Worm’s eye view can be presented in a more dynamic way by bringing the camera lens much lower and tilting the camera lens upwards more vertically.
The Perspective view is intriguing – is this looking out towards the vertical wall or elevator shaft.
Chiaroscuro shot – one of your best shots and makes potentially a strong starting point to a series and a narrative sequence
Seriality – position your camera and yourself in the exact same spot to take the two photographs for stronger visual communication and a better-controlled pair of photographs.
