[Mood Board] High-tech city

In the past, people need to use about three months to discover SARS is a coronavirus. Today, scientists only spend three days to find out the DNA sequence of the COVID-19. It shows that our technology grows exponentially. I believe that people already need not to wear a mask outside in 2021, because the vaccines are probably invented and used to save people. Also, the city will become more harmonious as we can see different people help each other during this epidemic. The streets become lively, more shops are open, and everyone has a higher hygiene awareness. For example, there

[MOOD BOARD]: REBELLION

Rebellion presents a dystopian future reality, one where Hong Kong has been completely devoured by the pandemic.  Refusal to follow social distancing regulations and general sanitation results in more cases and more deaths–leaving the city barren.  This allegory  focuses on the power of the individual in society and how one person going against the law can start a trend of rebellion within society.  Alongside the dark dystopian reality in which the allegory is set, an alternative positive reality will be presented as well, to show how the individuals choice has the power to shape their future.

[Mood Board] Boxed

Social distancing is the way we beat the virus as the whole world begins to realize in the front of a major global crisis. Although first cases have been reported in November of 2019, we have yet to see it’s full extent in spreading worldwide faster than ever. While the West seemed to have been heavily critical of China’s ability in contain the virus, they too have bot been able to slow down the outbreak in their countries, truly showing no country seems prepared against this pandemic. Should we put the focus towards why it happened, who is to be

[Mood Board] Resumption

As a result of the epidemic, factories were shut down, schools were closed, and people are working from home. But final year students in senior high schools have to return to schools once the outbreak of virus is under control. After all, they have to face the college entrance examination. This has aroused many concerns. How can the safety of students be guaranteed? How do they maintain social distance in group life? What about their mental health? Will they be worried or stressed out? The video essay will be in the form of a documentary, showing the school collective

[Mood Board] Advance

The overall storyline of the film will focus on two characters; human and a tree (will be further specified in the film). This film is an allegory that conveys a message on the relationship between human beings and nature, which two characters will represent respectively. The daily routine has changed and nature has also changed in response. The air has been cleared as human activities have decreased and people are more focusing on indoor activities or less active activities that they can do within a limited area. The change of relationship will be shown through the transition of colour.

[Mood Board] Melt

With so many things coming up in my mind when I think about what a life we have spent during the special period, I then rethink about the relationship between objects. Our lives are different with the lives before. Now we study at home, have dinner with families everyday, chat with friends online and “travel” online. The time seems to flows backwards at a moment and some fading memories start to remind us of our childhood, of the past and of ourselves, many things that never change. Zhang Qin Ya 3035639185

[Mood Board] Distance for environment

In my video I am going to show the impact of the coronavirus in South Korea, especially social distance. I know that other countries also do the quruantine, in south Korea it is not mandatory for all people except people who contact with coronavirus patient. I want to focus on the distance between people in offline, but also those support and communication between people in online. For offline, also want to focus on people wearking mask and making distance taht show the people’s participation to stop spread of coronavirus to protect their family, friends, even those people that they don’t

ESSENTIALISM

Social distance has brought us to a new reality, and realisation. We could stay at home all day everyday, being protected, still working on school works, because it will bring us closer to our “dreams”.(Or make more money on the future.) One could easily forget what is happening on the outside world if s/he doesn’t check on the news. On the other hand, under the pandemic, money would still be the first concern for others, what is ironic is that the usefulness of “money”is built on top of the “belief” that it is real. And it is a norm

[MOOD BOARD] IMPUNITY

Fear comes from uncertainty. Along with fake news and conspiracies, it spreads like wildfire. People stay at home and stay away from the pandemic. But everything just come too fast such that break us into fragments. We have too many hardships these years. So in 2021 we imprison ourselves and are numb to everything. You can’t awaken someone who is pretending to be asleep. To some degree, we know what is happening around us. To some degree, we escape from it with impunity. The video essay serves as an allegory to warn us not to have such a mindset.
